Went over to see how Harold was doing. He was resting quietly. Pain had subsided a bit. He was watching Inspector Louis.

Hospital still trying to find a place that will accept Harold for outpatient dialysis (Children, can we all say "no health insurance") Let's hope tomorrow everything falls into place.

We did see Harold this afternoon (missed the latest post on no visitors). He put his pain at a 10, so we did not talk much.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if a social worker has been assigned to Harold? If it has not been done already, someone should sign him up for Medicare. There are no age restrictions for people with permanent kidney failure. That could open up some options due to higher reimbursement. I don't know if Medicare would also cover other costs such as his chemo.

Harold has a social worker working on getting him Med-Cal. But that got underway before the kidney problem surfaced, so Medicare didn't come up then.... increased reimbursement might get a providers attention. I'll ask next time I'm on phone w/hospital if I don't hear that someone else is on this.
ReplyDeleteI wish Harold would allow them to give him pain medication.
